Joy Equipment Protection Inc. is a licensed fire protection company providing professional service in and around the Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Family owned and operated since 1978, Joy Equipment Protection is located in the small beach community of Carpinteria, CA. We have extensive experience in the fire protection industry. Our services include but are not limited to the servicing of all portable fire extinguishers, residential and commercial fire sprinkler systems, kitchen hood systems, industrial clean agent systems and hands on fire training. Joy Equipment Protection strives for excellence and takes pride in our commitment to complete each job with proper results in a timely manner.

Rick Joy, Founder
In 1978 Rick Joy moved to Carpinteria, California and began his career working for Santa Barbara Fire Equipment. Rick loved meeting so many nice people and being able to go to different locations everyday. Great friendships and business relationships were started and so what began as just a few small jobs continued to grow each year. 17 years later, in 1995, he founded Joy Equipment Protection, Inc. to continue the great personal service that makes us the proud company we are today.
Having lived in the beautiful beach-side town of Carpinteria with his wife and family for the past 40 years, Rick enjoys providing this support and safety to the local community. He believes in honest and kind professional service with an attitude people will remember. His motto always is “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”
Van Joy, Vice President
Although Van Joy has been around fire extinguishers since before he could walk, he began working at Joy Equipment Protection while attending Cal State Channel Islands. After graduating in 2008, he joined the family business full time. Since then, Van has moved from working solely as a technician to also overseeing day to day operations.
Our Team
What started as just a technician in his own truck is now a team of over 15 friendly and honest men and women, some who have been with the company for over 30 years. We believe in providing the best care for our clients so you will continuously ask for us back. All our technicians have up-to-date training and certifications so you can ensure you will always receive the great service on which our company was founded.
Our sprinkler division is lead by manager Paco Robles, who has over 20 years of sprinkler design and installation experience.
